To work out how many appliances your office has here’s our quick and handy guide to get an accurate online quotation once you’ve got a final figure.
PAT Testing Prices for Computers & IT Equipment in Offices
PC’s, monitors & IT equipment such as printers & tills tend to count as more than one item. This is because the power lead to that appliance will need to be separately tested. So when counting your IT appliances in your industry it is advised to double the number the number of IT equipment to give you an accurate figure for PAT testing prices. For example, when testing a computer you have four appliances. The PC, its power lead, the monitor and its power lead. So each computer is technically four appliances. For example if your office had 40 computers, all with one monitor each, you would have 160 items to test.
Extension leads also need to be tested, so again, in an office where a group of desks tend to house 3-4 workstations you will probably have one or two extension leads under the desk to test too.
Items such as kettles, toasters & fridges in kitchens will need to be tested and don’t forget appliances in private offices and meeting rooms too.
Hard dryers in toilets are hard wired into the mains supply so these won’t be tested during a PAT test.

Top Tip
Assuming you have just one monitor on each desk. Count how many computer workstations you have and multiply that figure by 4. (PC, Monitor & 2x power leads). If you have 2 screens per station you’ll need to multiply the number of workstations by 6 to accommodate extra screen & power cord. For every 3 desks I would also count in an extension lead that is likely to be under the desk too.
